Overview
The Department of Educational Psychology contributes to the preparation of prospective teachers and the development of their psychological and educational competencies by providing them with the scientific knowledge and practical skills necessary to understand learners and their developmental characteristics, support learning processes, manage classroom behavior, promote mental health, and utilize assessment, evaluation, and scientific research to enhance educational practices. The Department also contributes to the professional development of practitioners in the educational field and serves both the University and the wider community through activities aligned with its areas of specialization
Objectives
Strengthening the Psychological Foundations of Education: to equip students with the psychological principles that explain teaching and learning processes, academic performance, and interactions between teachers and learners.
Application of Psychological Theories: to enable students to understand major psychological theories and models and apply them effectively in teaching and learning contexts.
Understanding Learner Development and Needs: to familiarize students with developmental characteristics, needs, and requirements across different stages of growth while recognizing individual differences among learners.
Promoting Effective Learning: to develop students’ ability to identify the conditions that facilitate effective learning and apply them in diverse educational settings and environments.
Classroom Behavior Management: to introduce students to the principles of mental health and strengthen the preventive and guidance roles of teachers in helping learners address challenges in a positive and constructive manner.
Addressing Learner Needs: to enable students to design, administer, and interpret psychological and educational tests and measurement tools for the improvement of teaching and learning processes.
Developing Research Competencies: to equip students with the skills necessary to identify educational psychology research problems, conduct studies, and utilize research findings to improve professional practice.
Serving the University and Community: to provide courses, activities, consultations, and training programs that contribute to professional development and support educational and community institutions.

Providing scientific and technical support to graduate students and researchers in areas related to the Department’s fields of specialization.
