Mission
The Department of Educational Psychology, guided by the college and departmental vision, aims to empower learners with scientific knowledge, practical methods, and techniques provided by the Educational Psychology program. This includes preparing teachers, offering continuing education for in-service teachers and specialists, stimulating educational research, serving the community, and enhancing the quality of life based on its social and cultural context while positively interacting with contemporary demands and quality standards.
Objectives
The Department of Educational Psychology aims to achieve the following objectives:
1. Equip students (future teachers) with the scientific background of psychological principles and foundations relevant to the educational process, classroom performance, and teacher-student interaction.
2. Familiarize students with fundamental theories and models in psychology and their application in learning processes.
3. Provide students with knowledge about the developmental characteristics of students and their needs at various developmental stages.
4. Help students understand the conditions necessary for effective learning and implement them in different educational situations.
5. Develop students' skills in managing classroom dynamics and behavior, and in maintaining classroom order.
6. Introduce students to principles of mental health and emphasize the teacher's guiding role in student development and prevention, helping them acquire effective coping skills and dealing with problems positively.
7. Provide scientific background and skills in the field of special education, including identification, care, teaching, and development of students with special needs.
8. Ensure teachers master the skills of constructing and applying tests and measurements as a fundamental aspect of the educational process.
9. Cultivate an awareness of educational psychological research issues and equip students with the skills to participate in research and studies, utilizing results to improve school performance.
10. Offer academic courses in educational psychology according to internationally recognized scientific and professional standards for teacher preparation.
11. Contribute to providing general courses for university students in all disciplines that have special value for their academic, educational, and personal lives.
12. Enhance the department's role and contributions to the university and community by providing psychological counseling services to students, and conducting training courses, workshops, activities, and consultations at the community level.
13. Conduct scientific research that contributes to the advancement of the educational organization in various aspects and in preparing tools and measures to enhance educational psychological research, utilizing research results to improve teaching, and learning processes and enrich the school environment.
